Have you ever seen this badge before? It belonged to my late stepfather Franciszek Jan Budzinski from Lwow.

The badge must have belonged to my step-father’s brother, Mieczyslaw Budzinski who was a sergeant pilot in a Polish Squadron of the RAF and stationed at RAF Newton. He emigrated to the USA in 1945/6 but we have all lost contact with him.
The badge is my property as FJ Budzinski died in 1957. His service medals were stolen in late 1957.
Thank you for your reply

Franciszek Jan Budzinski
My stepfather was born in Lwow about 1910-1916, no birth certificate exists. He was a radio engineer at Radio Lwow in 1939. Arrested by the German Army then by the Russians, deported with other intellectuals on a prison train. At the Polish/Russian border he escaped with one other young man and somehow!! made his way through Europe to France, joined the Free Polish army then was evacuated to the UK in June 1940, probably from Brest or La Pallice. He then joined the 1st Polish Army Corps in the UK. He was sent later to work in Bush House, HQ of the BBC Overseas Service where he recorded and arranged broadcast of messages to the Polish Resistance.
He died in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1957, sadly, I had to dispose of ALL the glass master records which he had kept as no one in the UK or in the Polish community was interested in them.
His sister, Maria (Marysia?) was deported to Warszawa probably in 1945-46. He also had a brother who served with the RAF and reportedly, emigrated to the USA after 1945.
His father was the equivalent of the Town Clerk of Lwow in 1939 but his father and his mother were shot as spies by the Germans probably anytime after 1942 but not sure.
My stepfather could not return to Poland/Ukraine as the Russian authorities had a file on him and a Gulag would have been the least of his possible fates so he joined the Polish Resettlement Corps for training and education to fit him for life in the UK.
If this piece of history interests anyone who has access to Lwow (Lviv) public records then I would be interested to learn more if possible.

Widzimy nigdy nie publikowane fotografie radiowców począwszy od Lwowskiej Fali a skończywszy na pracach dla podziemia jakie prowadził FJ nad: "(...)design and packaging of the S phone, a line of sight VHF transmitter/receiver used by agents on the ground to talk to the aircrew of aircraft which dropped supplies and agents.(...)"
Cały temat i wyniki poszukiwań przedstawimy niebawem.
